| Subject: | Input Requested: BIA Framework Update Survey |
Dear Members,
Member input is critical—BILD is circulating the City of Calgary’s Biological Impact Assessment (BIA) Framework Update Survey and strongly encourages your participation.
As part of ongoing work to update the BIA Framework, the City is seeking input from both internal users (City of Calgary staff) and external users (including industry stakeholders) involved in planning, as well as capital and operational projects. The survey is focused on improving clarity of requirements, consistency in expectations, and overall workflow within the BIA process.
This is an important opportunity to provide direct feedback on how the framework is functioning in practice. Based on recent discussions with members, we know there are ongoing challenges related to clarity, coordination, and predictability. While not all of these broader issues are captured within the survey itself, your responses will play a key role in informing how the City improves the framework and how it is applied.
We strongly encourage participation from all users of the BIA Framework, including environmental consultants, developers/landowners, planners, and construction contractors, and other environmental and biophysical professionals. We also encourage members to circulate this survey broadly within their organizations to ensure input is captured from all relevant technical staff.

The survey will remain open until May 22, 2026.
Your input is important to ensure industry perspectives are clearly understood and reflected as this work moves forward.
If you have any questions or would like to provide additional context beyond the survey, please feel free to reach out to Deborah Cooper (Deborah.Cooper@bildcr.com).
Thank you in advance for your participation.
