About the Foundation 

BILD Calgary Region Foundation was incorporated in 1986. Its focus is community related, including community spaces, shelter and more.

BILD Calgary Region Foundation is very proud of the fact that it has no overhead. Resources such as staff, office space and equipment are donated by BILD Calgary Region. The Board of Directors, as well as fundraising and committee organizers, are all volunteers.

BILD Calgary Region Foundation shares membership with BILD Calgary region.

Governors are elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting. BILD Calgary Region Foundation is a separate legal identity from BILD Calgary Region, although they share many goals and resources, and the BILD Calgary Region Foundation is the charity of choice for the industry.

Since its inception, the foundation is responsible for giving over $7.5 Million to the communities we live in.

In addition to funds raised through various events and initiatives annually, the Foundation is able to provide additional support for projects through in-kind donations from our membership, including materials, labour and other donated services.

2022/2023 BILD Calgary Region Foundation Board of Directors 

Randy Kraft,  KPMG Canada

Randy has been an auditor with KPMG for more than 30 years, working with public and private companies. A partner since 1996, he is KPMG Calgary’s Industry Leader for the Building, Construction Real Estate (BC&RE) practice. He also is a member of KPMG’s National BC&RE service team. Randy has significant experience with both private and public companies and NPOs, performing a broad range of services.

Randy is also the lead Partner for the Alberta New Home Warranty Program Quarterly Benchmarking study presented to ANHWP member participants. He also coordinates a salary survey for Alberta home builders. Randy serves on the planning advisory committee for the Calgary Real Estate Forum and participates in the program. He also serves on the Commercial Real Estate Sector Advisory Committee for Calgary Economic Development .

He has previously served on the education committee for BOMA Calgary and the economic forecast committee for the Calgary Home Builders Association.

Ashley Read, Genesis Builders Group

Ashley prides herself on being a highly organized & customer service driven representative for Genesis Builder Group for nearly 9 years. She is a passionate about this industry and always eager to learn more.

Currently, Ashley sits on the Foundation Board of Governors for the BILD Foundation & a member of the BILD Charitable Committee.

Hugh Erickson, Grant Thornton LLP 

As a partner in our  the Grant Thornton LLP Calgary office, Hugh lead’s multiple financial statement audit, assurance, compilation and income tax engagements for numerous public and private sector organizations. Beyond providing assurance, advisory and tax planning assistance, he delivers IT and financial consulting services to help his clients manage risk, strengthen their control environments and improve their governance.

His primary aim throughout is to work closely with his clients to build customized solutions that allow them to realize measurable results and reach their full potential.

Hugh has spent five years on The Bild Calgary Region Foundation Board of Governors as the board’s Treasurer.

Outside of work and volunteering in the community, he also enjoys surf travel, cycling and skiing.

Christa Sanders, City of Airdrie 

A long-time Airdrie resident, Christa has 15 years’ experience in the corporate legal industry and spent over 10 years’ in residential real estate gaining experience in internal governance, sales, and operations with prominent residential land developers and home builders.

She has a technical Diploma from SAIT, a Diploma in Urban Land Economics from UBC, and attended the University of Waterloo Economic Development Program.

She currently serves on the BILD Calgary Region Foundation Board of Governors and a number of other BILD committees. She is passionate about continuous improvement, economic development and Airdrie.

James Palmer-White,  Genesis Builders Group 

Currently with Genesis Builders Group, James has spent over 15+ years in the real estate industry in Calgary. After gaining his Bachelor of Arts in Economics at The University of Calgary, James transitioned into a role with Marcor Woodwork Ltd. where he was the company’s Chief Estimator and also a project manager.

After leaving Marcor, James spent the next ten years splitting his time between Guther’s Building Centre Ltd. and Avalon Master Builder where he worked primarily in developing and maintaining accounting systems, contract negotiation and proposal analysis.

James is excited to be on the Board of Governors with The BILD Calgary Region Foundation.

Laura Parsons, BMO Financial Group

Over the last 42 years, Laura has worked with BMO Financial Group as the organization’s Vice President Mortgage Specialists Alberta South and National Media Representative. Laura’s in depth knowledge of the real estate industry has played a key role in her team & organizations success.

The Calgary product has spent five plus years on the Board of Directors with the BILD Calgary Region Foundation and previously with the CHBA Calgary Region.

Outside of her involvement with the Foundation, Laura is on the board for the Awo Taan Womens Shelter, member of BMO’s Aboriginal Council, teaching a course on financial solutions.

Pal Shergill – Prominent Homes

President of Prominent Homes Ltd, Pal has been in the industry for 20+ years and has taken over the 32 year old family business for Southern Alberta.  He graduated from UofA with a BComm in Law and Economics as well as his Master Builder Certificate.

He has been a volunteer with the CHBA-CR and BILD for 15+ years, serving on a number of committees with the latest being Co-Chair for the Economic Committee.

As well as funding and helping initiatives with Prominent Homes Charitable Organization, Pal is excited to join the Board of Governors with the BILD Calgary Region Foundation.

Chantel Staub – Shane Homes

Chantel has worked in sales, management, and recruitment for the past 16 years in an array of roles in the new home industry. Chantel has been successful in driving sales, increasing company retention, profitability, sales team morale, engagement, and customer satisfaction. She is dedicated to the industry and the growth and succession of her fellow colleagues and team.

Chantel’s most recent role is that of Sales Team Lead at Shane Homes. In this role, she helps manage the sales team through providing constant support, innovative ideas, and empathy to the team and the customers that they provide a service to.

She is passionate about people, whether it is her team or Shane Home customers, her goal is to ensure the best customer experience in the industry.

Chantel is excited to be on the Board of Governors with The BILD Calgary Region Foundation and looks forward to helping make a positive impact through her contributions.
