About the Foundation
BILD Calgary Region Foundation was incorporated in 1986. Its focus is community related, including community spaces, shelter and more.
BILD Calgary Region Foundation is very proud of the fact that it has no overhead. Resources such as staff, office space and equipment are donated by BILD Calgary Region. The Board of Directors, as well as fundraising and committee organizers, are all volunteers.
BILD Calgary Region Foundation shares membership with BILD Calgary region.
Governors are elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting. BILD Calgary Region Foundation is a separate legal identity from BILD Calgary Region, although they share many goals and resources, and the BILD Calgary Region Foundation is the charity of choice for the industry.
Since its inception, the foundation is responsible for giving over $8 Million to the communities we live in.
In addition to funds raised through various events and initiatives annually, the Foundation is able to provide additional support for projects through in-kind donations from our membership, including materials, labour and other donated services.

2026/2027 BILD Calgary Region Foundation Board of Governors
Pal Shergill – Prominent Homes
President of Prominent Homes Ltd, Pal has been in the industry for 20+ years and has taken over the 32 year old family business for Southern Alberta. He graduated from UofA with a BComm in Law and Economics as well as his Master Builder Certificate.
He has been a volunteer with the CHBA-CR and BILD for 15+ years, serving on a number of committees with the latest being Co-Chair for the Economic Committee.
As well as funding and helping initiatives with Prominent Homes Charitable Organization, Pal is excited to join the Board of Governors with the BILD Calgary Region Foundation.
Hugh Erickson, Doanne Grant Thornton LLP
As a partner in Doanne Grant Thornton LLP’s Calgary office, Hugh lead’s multiple financial statement audit, assurance, compilation and income tax engagements for numerous public and private sector organizations. Beyond providing assurance, advisory and tax planning assistance, he delivers IT and financial consulting services to help his clients manage risk, strengthen their control environments and improve their governance.
His primary aim throughout is to work closely with his clients to build customized solutions that allow them to realize measurable results and reach their full potential.
Hugh has spent 5 years on The Bild Calgary Region Foundation Board of Governors as the board’s Treasurer.
Outside of work and volunteering in the community, he also enjoys surf travel, cycling and skiing.
James Palmer, Genesis Builders Group
Currently with Genesis Builders Group, James has spent over 15+ years in the real estate industry in Calgary. After gaining his Bachelor of Arts in Economics at The University of Calgary, James transitioned into a role with Marcor Woodwork Ltd. where he was the company’s Chief Estimator and also a project manager.
After leaving Marcor, James spent the next ten years splitting his time between Guther’s Building Centre Ltd. and Avalon Master Builder where he worked primarily in developing and maintaining accounting systems, contract negotiation and proposal analysis.
James is excited to be on the Board of Governors with The BILD Calgary Region Foundation.
Chantel Staub – Shane Homes
Chantel has worked in sales, management, and recruitment for the past 16 years in an array of roles in the new home industry. Chantel has been successful in driving sales, increasing company retention, profitability, sales team morale, engagement, and customer satisfaction. She is dedicated to the industry and the growth and succession of her fellow colleagues and team.
Chantel’s most recent role is that of Sales Team Lead at Shane Homes. In this role, she helps manage the sales team through providing constant support, innovative ideas, and empathy to the team and the customers that they provide a service to.
She is passionate about people, whether it is her team or Shane Home customers, her goal is to ensure the best customer experience in the industry.
Chantel is excited to be on the Board of Governors with The BILD Calgary Region Foundation and looks forward to helping make a positive impact through her contributions.
Ashley Read, Hopewell
Ashley is the Manager of Customer Experience & Warranty for Hopewell. Ashley is passionate about this industry and always eager to learn more.
Currently, Ashley sits on the Foundation Board of Governors for the BILD Foundation & a member of the BILD Charitable Committee.
Christa Sanders, City of Airdrie
A long-time Airdrie resident, Christa has more than 25 years of experience across residential home building and development, governance, economic development, and housing strategy. During her tenure with the City of Airdrie, she has led city building initiatives focused on housing, growth, and community investment.
Her experience across both industry and municipal government has reinforced the importance of collaboration in delivering housing, supporting economic growth, and building strong communities throughout the Calgary region. She is committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and improve quality of life.
Christa holds credentials from SAIT, the University of British Columbia’s Urban Land Economics program, and the University of Waterloo Economic Development Program, and serves on the BILD Calgary Region Foundation Board of Governors.
Grant Borisow, BMO
Grant has been in the financial services industry for over 35 years. His knowledge, teamwork, commitment and customer service approach has given him a winning formula and has made him a leader in the financing and home building industries. For Grant and his team, it’s about working hard to ensure client’s homeownership dreams come true.
Grant is a very active volunteer in the community and is always ready to help out. He has even been previously nominated for the Mayors White Hat award for Best Banker, Customer Service in Calgary.
Taking over the leadership role of Regional Builder Partnership Manager, Prairies Central Canada Region in 2023, Grant has worked tirelessly with builders, developers and realtors in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northwest Territories to drive business and build success through innovation and a very hands on approach. For Grant it’s all about building relationships and working together for success.
Kahrun Ghali, Mr.Fireplace
Kahrun Ghali is the Director of Business Development at Mr. Fireplace, based in Calgary, Canada, where he leads efforts to grow the business through strategic partnerships and client relationships. Prior to this role, Kahrun worked at Jayman BUILT as a sales associate, overseeing the sales process and helping clients navigate their home-buying journey. Kahrun holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of British Columbia. He currently serves on BILD Calgary Region’s Economic Advisory Committee and are excited to become more involved with the BILD Calgary Region Foundation.
