The future of the building and development industry showcased its talents as part of the 2024 BILDCR Student House Design Contest.

CALGARY, ALTA—Last week, BILDCR hosted its annual Student House Design Contest Open House at Heritage Park, showcasing the work of the next generation of industry professionals. This year, the program was incredibly popular with  ___ Calgary highschools participating and over 150 studnt submissions, emphasizing the industry’s bright future.

The criteria for the student’s entries required them to design a mountain vacation home for a professional sports figure—the design had to incorporate at least eight bedrooms for the family and frequent guests. The lot had three existing water features: creek, pond, and waterfall, one of which was to be part of the design— a challenging for the high school students. As usual, the students rose to the occasion showcasing their creativity: BILDCR was incredibly impressed.

BILDCR would like to thank Jayman BUILT and Genesis Builders Group, for sponsoring the program this year. We would also like to thank the many high school teachers around Calgary for inspiring and encouraging students to participate in the contest. You all play an incredibly large part in inspiring and educating the next generation; our industry is grateful for that. Last, we would like to thank all those on the Student House Awards Committee for their time in helping guide and encourage students as well as judging this year’s entries.
