The City of Calgary Building Program team has released the draft Zoning Bylaw. This phase of engagement will focus on reviewing the draft, gathering feedback, discussing challenges, and refining the bylaw to ensure it works for developers and builders. Detailed summary sheets and an annotated version of the draft Zoning Bylaw are available, here.
Workshop Schedule
BILD has partnered with the City to organize efficient working sessions designed to minimize disruption to your schedules. These sessions will address whether the proposed districts accommodate the building forms, densities, and uses that you require. Your feedback is essential for identifying any gaps or challenges in the bylaw.
We invite you to participate in the following scheduled workshops:
- H-1 (Housing – Small Scale): November 14, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM
- H-2 (Housing – Middle Scale): November 20, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM
- H-3 (Housing – Multi-Residential) and MU-1, MU-1c (Mixed Use – Low Rise): November 21, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM
These workshops will be virtual via Microsoft Teams. Please email Kathleen.Langtry@bildcr.com to receive a Teams link.
Feedback Submission
Please review and provide your feedback on the draft Zone(s) using this spreadsheet at least one week prior to the workshop(s) to Kathleen.Langtry@bildcr.com. Your feedback ensures that workshop time is dedicated to clarifying issues and refining ideas.
Continued Engagement
We anticipate scheduling workshops for the Mixed Use and Downtown Zones later in November, more information will be shared soon. Workshops will continue throughout 2025. Your participation is crucial in influencing decisions that directly impact Calgary’s development, livability, and future growth. By engaging in this process, you help mitigate risks related to approvals, costly redesigns, and other development challenges.
Please feel free to share this bulletin within your organization. We deeply appreciate your dedication and volunteer efforts during this busy period. Your contributions are invaluable in shaping the future of Calgary.
Thank you for your time and commitment.
