About The Summit

The 2025 Unlocking Doors: Housing Supply and Affordability Summit will be a landmark event focused on fostering constructive and innovative solutions to shape the future of housing in Calgary and the Region. This Summit aims to bring together current and future municipal leaders, policymakers, industry experts, and the interested public for meaningful dialogue that challenges current practices, rethinks conventional approaches, and inspires actionable change. With a strong productivity lens to bolster housing supply, this initiative is designed to explore how efficiency improvements, streamlined processes, and innovative construction methods can reduce costs and accelerate housing delivery. By aligning industry insights with government policy, the Summit will identify actionable solutions that foster affordability, accessibility, and sustainable growth in the Calgary Region housing market, generating concrete strategies that alleviate market pressures. Ultimately, the Summit seeks to remove barriers and deliver sustainable,  affordable market housing solutions for current and future homeowners and renters in the Calgary Region.

Housing is a ladder. It’s all connected. Whenever we block market housing that somebody wants to build, the people who would have lived there don’t disappear. They move down the housing ladder, competing with everyone else for the limited supply of existing housing.

Engaging Sessions

Why Attend?

Are you concerned about the rising cost of housing in Calgary and the region?

With a substantial shortfall of 130,000 homes needed by 2030 to meet current demand, Alberta faces a pressing housing crisis. Despite record housing starts, demand continues to outpace supply, driving up home prices and putting increasing pressure on households. Latest data shows ownership costs now take up 42.5% of income, highlighting significant financial stress on Calgary residents.

This underscores the urgent need for a proactive approach to housing supply and affordability in the Calgary region. The 2025 Unlocking Doors: Housing Supply and Affordability Summit is your opportunity to engage directly with these critical issues. By bringing together policymakers, industry experts, and community leaders, we will work towards real, actionable solutions.

Rapid population growth, constrained land supply, a shifting labor market, rising construction costs, regulatory complexities, and infrastructure challenges are all driving a housing market that remains out of reach for many Calgarians.
