Interim Approval Process for ESC plan applications greater than 2.0ha

Starting On May 1, as a temporary measure to streamline the ESC Plan reviews and expedite ESC authorizations for the upcoming construction season, The City of Calgary will begin using an interim approvals process for sites greater than 2.0ha.

The interim process means the City will be running applications for sites 2ha or greater through a risk assessment. Lower risk sites will be reviewed under Section 2(2) of the Code of Practice for Erosion and Sediment Control and will be processed as a Written Notice, resulting in the issuance of a Notice to Proceed.

Please note: The current submission process for ESC applications remains unchanged as the City works behind the scenes on future program enhancements.

Applicants should continue to follow submission requirements outlined on the ESC Plans and Approvals web page and send completed applications to ESC@calgary.ca. Any files submitted prior to May 1 under the current process, will continue to be assessed under the same process in which they were first reviewed.
