Infill Fast Track Program 1.0 | Call for Design Submission

The City of Calgary is accepting design submissions for Infill Fast Track Program 1.0!  If you have a design that has an approved Development Permit (DP) and Building Permit (BP) and Development Site Servicing (DSSP) for one of the three select housing typologies, this is your chance to have your designs included in our pre-reviewed design catalogue. The three select housing typologies are:

• two-unit semi-detached (with two secondary suites)
• four-unit townhouse (with a minimum of two secondary suites)
• four-unit corner rowhouse (with a minimum of two secondary suites),

With Calgary projected to welcome approximately 110,000 new residents between 2023 and 2028, the City of Calgary is taking proactive steps to accommodate this growth by creating streamlined processes aimed to increase diverse housing supply and accelerate housing development.

The Infill Fast Track Program (IFTP) 1.0 is a pilot program designed to expedite the review and approval process for Development Permits (DP) and Building Permits (BP) and Development Site Servicing (DSSP) for three missing middle housing typologies in the City of Calgary.

At the completion of this pilot initiative, The City aims to have a Design Catalogue for selected pre-reviewed high-quality infill designs for all three housing typologies with the aim to accelerate approval timelines for DP, BP and DSSP for these selected designs. Public interest in appealing a development permit application is preserved.

After determining the success of this program, we hope to explore ways to include more typologies to the program in the future.
