At Genesis, the belief in the transformative power of collective action propels their commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of Calgarians. Beyond addressing housing affordability, the organization recognizes the widespread challenge of food affordability faced by parents, guardians, and caretakers in the community. With many Genesis employees being parents themselves, their dedication extends beyond financial contributions to actively volunteering at organizations that support families and children’s well-being.
The heart of this story lies in the profound impact a collective effort can have on the lives of countless children and the community at large. It symbolizes a cause deeply meaningful to numerous employees, aiming to inspire others to engage in dialogue, strengthen unity, and make a positive difference within the community.
On two separate days, Genesis volunteers passionately dedicated their time to prepare a total of 5,023 lunches, consisting of sandwiches, energy balls, veggies, fruit, and sugar cookies. Additionally, they contributed $2,000 to Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids, reflecting their employees’ deep commitment to this cause. The initiative not only benefits the community but also fosters camaraderie within the internal team.
February 13, 2023: 11 volunteers, 2,780 lunches made.
May 11th, 2023: 10 volunteers, 2,243 lunches made.
One Genesis volunteer expressed, “The one that will always be near and dear to my heart will always be BB4K (Brown Bagging for Kids) because as a mom, nothing hurts my heart more than thinking of any child not having something to eat.” Genesis strongly encourages others to consider volunteering for this remarkable organization. Information on how to get involved can be found here.
Genesis is continuing its commitment to giving back by volunteering and donating to two family-centered organizations:
Join them in making a difference in the lives of families and children in need. Together, a stronger, more compassionate community can be created.
