| Subject: | City of Calgary – Applicant Outreach Toolkit Update | Public Engagement Now Open |
Overview
The City of Calgary has launched an update to its Applicant Outreach Toolkit, designed to help applicants plan and deliver effective and transparent community engagement with nearby residents before applying to build small-scale homes in established areas — including single detached, semi-detached, townhouses, and rowhouses.
What’s Changing
The updated toolkit will provide clear guidance and simple tools to support meaningful applicant outreach, including:
- Transparent documentation to help small-scale applicants explain their proposals early
- Resources to facilitate listening to and capturing local feedback
- Guidance on demonstrating how community feedback was considered as part of the development review process
Public Engagement – Phase 1
The City is currently seeking input from community association representatives, members of the development industry, and the general public on current experiences.
Engagement Period: May 11 – May 29, 2026
We encourage members to participate and share their perspectives during this phase.
