CHBA – Alberta and UDI Alberta to amalgamate
EDMONTON – Members of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Alberta (CHBA – Alberta) and the Urban Development Institute Alberta Division (UDI Alberta) voted an overwhelming ‘Yes’ to the amalgamation of the two provincial associations (CHBA – Alberta, 88 per cent and UDI Alberta, 94 per cent).
Association members voted over a seven-day period from July 5 to July 11, 2017. The new joint organization will be named Building Industry and Land Development (BILD) Alberta.
BILD Alberta will now go through a 120-day transition period to fully unite the organizations. A transition board, led by Chair, Wendy Jabusch, is in place to begin the process. “We are thrilled with the result of the vote. Amalgamating the two associations will create one strong unified voice for the industry with an increased advocacy capacity,” said Wendy.
Over the next 120 days the transition board will hire a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the new organization and prepare a slate of BILD Alberta Board members. Association staff will continue to work hard to provide enhanced joint advocacy for the land development, home building and renovation industry at the provincial level.
