CALGARY – On Wednesday, Avalon Master Builders hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Calgary’s first #NetZero townhomes in the Seton community. The Zen Sequel project is part of the #CHBANetZero Multi-Unit Residential Buildings (MURBs) initiative, in partnership with Natural Resources Canada | Ressources naturelles Canada!
Some of the other projects part of the #CHBANetZero Multi-Unit Residential Buildings (MURBs) initiative include:
- Willowview Heights by Big Block Construction on Behalf of innovative Residental (Saskatchewan’s first Net Zero multi-unit residential building)
- Miller’s Pond MURB by Doug Tarry Homes Ltd. (first builder to reach the milestone of labelling more than 100 homes in the Net Zero program)
- Maple West Affordable Townhome Project by Landmark Homes (Canada) – Landmark has built 28 Net Zero Energy, over 100 Net Zero Ready and 200+ highly energy-efficient solar homes.
The project will help the home building industry to reduce costs, increase energy efficiency, performance and productivity. The result is an energy-efficient, airtight home with an exceptional living experience for our homeowners. They will save on their utility bills, be protected from energy price increases, and live in a healthier, safer, more durable, and comfortable home.
“I am very excited about the completion of our Zen Sequel Net Zero homes. With the release of this project we have moved from individual custom homes to affordable Net Zero town homes, a giant step forward,” said Ryan Scott, CEO and President of Avalon Master Builder.
“This has been a goal Avalon has been working towards for over fifteen years with each Net Zero home constructed targeting net zero for no extra cost to our customers,” Scott continues, “In the grand scheme of things in the Calgary market I think that this shows that it can be done and with the Code of Net Zero by 2030 that we can get there. There will be a lot of work and challenges ahead of us in doing this but it can be done, and I am looking forward to a not-so-distant future where every home we build is Net Zero.”
BILD Calgary Region is excited to follow Avalon Master Builder as they continue to innovate and are at the forefront as well as, various other BILD Members, of Net Zero development.
