To Our Builder and Developer Community,

We hope this message finds you well. Alberta has been experiencing unprecedented growth in recent years, bringing about significant opportunities and changes in both residential and commercial sectors. This rapid expansion has inevitably placed great demand on resources, and we want to take this opportunity to update you on what ATCO Gas & Pipelines is doing to ensure that your project timelines are met effectively and efficiently.

Addressing the Impact of Growth

While Alberta’s dynamic growth trajectory has been transformative, it has also presented new challenges in managing resources and maintaining project timelines.

To continue delivering exceptional service, ATCO has implemented several key initiatives:

  1. Engaging Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Companies: We are working towards partnering with EPC companies to enhance our engineering and design support. These partnerships will enable us to scale rapidly, ensuring we can meet the heightened demand without compromising on quality or timelines.
  2. Implementing Co-Location Meetings: One of our most effective strategies has been implementing “Co-Location Meetings,” which bring together all relevant stakeholders in specific jurisdictions in a collaborative environment, facilitating faster decision-making and problem-solving. As a result, we have successfully reduced the Issued for Construction (IFC) timelines from 7 months to 4 months for standard projects in the Calgary Region. This significant reduction in time is a testament to the power of streamlined communication and integrated project management.
  3. Monthly Project Status Update Meetings: Our Key Accounts department is now conducting monthly project status update meetings with builders & developers. These meetings are designed to provide comprehensive updates on project progress, address any emerging issues promptly, and ensure all parties are aligned on objectives and timelines. This proactive communication strategy helps in maintaining transparency and fostering a collaborative approach to project management.

How You Can Help

Your support and collaboration are crucial to our mutual success. Here are a few ways you can help us continue to deliver exceptional results:

  1.  Initiate Requests Early: To help us manage resources and plan effectively, we kindly ask that you initiate project requests as early as possible. Ideally, requests should be made at least six months in advance to allow for the allocation of resources and ensure projects start (and stay) on track.
  2. Share Ideas and Innovations: We are always open to new ideas and potential pilot projects that can improve our processes and reduce timelines. If you have any suggestions or innovative concepts, we want to hear from you. Your insights are invaluable and can significantly contribute to enhancing our service delivery. We invite you to share your ideas with your Key Account Manager or submit your request to ATCOKeyAccountsGas@atco.com.

Moving Forward Together

We deeply value and appreciate your partnership as we navigate this exciting period of growth and remain committed to working closely with you to achieve our shared goals. Together, we can continue to drive the growth and development of Alberta, creating a prosperous future for all.

Thank you for your continued trust and collaboration. We look forward to strengthening our partnership and achieving great success together.

Sincerely,

Aris Argyriou
